The 2009 Native American Art Auction and Dinner took place November 14, 2009 at the Lucky Eagle Casino, Rochester, Washington. The event took place in the Casino's Events Center. There was so much demand for tickets that, in the end, the agency ordered extra tables. We thank everyone who contributed art, attended the event, and bid on the stunning items that were there that evening.
If you didn't attend, you missed a great seafood buffet and wonderful desserts. People ate their meals while Pawnee Brown played soothing flute music. Johnny Moses (Tulalip), a renowned storyteller and comedian, appeared and told traditional stories. And then people began bidding on the art! Please join us next year!
The annual auction and dinner is our our major fund-raiser. Seventy-five percent of the proceeds go into an investment fund that will establish the SPIPA Endowment Fund. All funds raised advance the health, education, and welfare of the SPIPA Consortium Tribes. The remaining twenty-five percent is used to meet the immediate needs of the elders and youths of the tribes.
