Community
Service Programs
Our
community service programs reflect one more
way
SPIPA
supports
the special needs
of our
tribal communities.
Nationally Recognized
One of SPIPA’s
Community Service Programs – the Food Distribution Program
(FDP) –
has national recognition, gained through a history of service
to tribal consortium members, and as a long-time member of the National
Association of Food Distribution Programs
on
Indian
Reservations.
SPIPA staff, including the Community Service Director, have served
on the
National
Board – a service that reinforces the national prominence of this
program.

The
Food Distribution Program offers staples, meat, fruits,
vegetables and frozen foods.
|
The program has
been a mainstay of good health for the Nisqually, Chehalis, Squaxin
Island,
Skokomish,
and
Port Gamble S’kallam Tribes since 1983. This
program provides a variety of food items, including frozen meat
and
fresh produce.
Filling Needs
These programs
address a variety of needs within each community, but share one
common element:
improving the lifestyle of each and every member of the community.
